Roma store sale 11 June 2024: Southern processors add to demand

All the regular feedlotters and backgrounders present however there were four extra processors operating in the cow market.

The highlight of the sale was large numbers of well bred local weaners. The market for the quality cattle was firm to slightly dearer however the secondary cattle struggled through out the sale. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg topped 396c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg made to 394c and averaged 360c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg averaged 364c and sold from 310c to 408c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg improved to sell to 360c and average 329c/kg.Yearling steers over 480/kg with the majority selling from 295c to 336c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg selling from 170c and made to 256c/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold to 280c and averaged 248c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg made to 300c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg topped 298c and averaged 269c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg improved almost 20c/kg and sold to 288c/kg. Yearling heifers over 480kg made to 287c/kg.

Grown steers 500 to 600kg made to 336c/kg to feed. Grown steers over 600kg sold from 206c to 272c/kg. Grown heifers over 540kg made to 250c/kg. With a reduced number of cows penned the cow market improved slightly. The 2 score cows sold from 140c to 220c/kg. The 3 score cows sold well from 200c to 250c/kg. The best of heavy weight bulls sold to 270c and bulls under 450kg sold from 120c to 316c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 350c/kg and averaged 250c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 408c/kg and averaged 356c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 408c/kg and averaged 353c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 394c/kg and averaged 343c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 384c/kg and averaged 328c/kg.

WG & LJ Price, Redcrest, Moura sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 388c/kg, reaching a top of $1,115 to average $1,053.

Derbyshire Downs Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Derbyshire Downs, Augathella sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 386c/kg, reaching a top of $1,565 to average $1,370.  The Angus cross heifers sold to 310c/kg, reaching a top of $996 to average $971.

Daniel Devlin, Hillsborough, Dulacca sold Angus steers to 382c/kg, reaching a top of $1,353 to average $949.  The Angus cross heifers sold to 286c/kg, reaching a top of $1,116 to average $641.

OR & SM Hams, Cooly, St George sold Charolais cross steers to 382c/kg, reaching a top of $1,228 to average $1,141.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 270c/kg, reaching a top of $814 to average $764.

JW Walker, Lau-Mar, Injune sold Charbray steers to 380c/kg, reaching a top of $1,131 to average $1,131.  The Charbray heifers sold to 246c/kg, reaching a top of $695 to average $695.

JE Jones, Weslor, Injune sold Simbrah steers to 378c/kg, reaching a top of $1,130 to average $1,130.  The Simbrah heifers sold to 266c/kg, reaching a top of $1,450 to average $784.
