Roma store sale 2 July 2024: Cows stronger in smaller yarding

Yarding: 5208 Change: – 3066

All the regular processors feedlotters and backgrounders present.

Prices were firm to dearer for the quality weaners however the secondary lines struggled.

The cow market was exceptionally stronger.

Yearling steers 200 to 280kg selling from 220c to 360c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg with the majority making to 376c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg gaining in price and selling from 246c to 382c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg topped 340c and over 480kg made to 308c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg sold from 137c to 300c/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg were in demand and selling from 184c to 322c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg sold well and topped 310c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg also gained in price and made to 324c/kg to feed. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg made to 272c/kg to processors.

Grown steers 500 to 600kg made to 302c to feed with processors paying to 290c/kg.

Heifers under 540kg made from 218c to 308c and with over 540kg making to 272c/kg. Another run of local and western bred cows improving in price. The 2 score cows sold from 120c to 210c/kg. The 3 score cows over 520kg topped 266c to average 243c/kg.

Bulls under 450kg topped 272c and over 600kg made to 263c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 346c/kg and averaged 308c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 382c/kg and averaged 313c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 382c/kg and averaged 330c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 378c/kg and averaged 318c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 338c/kg and averaged 294c/kg.

L Weir, Crowman, Injune sold Simmental cross steers to 382c/kg, reaching a top of $1,301 to average $1,161.  The Simmental heifers sold to 270c/kg, reaching a top of $690 to average $657.

KS Fien, Crowman, Injune sold Simmental cross steers to 382c/kg, reaching a top of $1,289 to average $1,201.  The Simmental cross heifers sold to 270c/kg, reaching a top of $759 to average $745.

PJ & ME Brennan, For Far, Mitchell sold Charolais steers to 368c/kg, reaching a top of $1,227 to average $1,119.  The Charolais heifers sold to 280c/kg, reaching a top of $874 to average $780.

CH Thompson, Creekside, Yuleba sold Charolais cross steers to 366c/kg, reaching a top of $1,074 to average $1,074.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 278c/kg, reaching a top of $842 to average $842.

BV Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma sold Charolais cross steers to 356c/kg, reaching a top of $1,584 to average $1,405.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 278c/kg, reaching a top of $1,119 to average $1,081.

RC & SJ Watson, Boothella, Cooladdi sold Simmental cross steers to 352c/kg, reaching a top of $1,348 to average $927.

WJ & CL Glasson, Coopers Ponds, Blackall sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 350c/kg, reaching a top of $1,194 to average $1,112.  The Santa Gertrudis cross cows sold to 257c/kg, reaching a top of $1,492 to average $1,207.

DA & CBM Twist, Juandah Downs, Mungallala sold Charolais cross steers to 348c/kg, reaching a top of $1,256 to average $1,091.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 280c/kg, reaching a top of $1,139 to average $973.

DK & CL Perkins, Gleneric, Chinchilla sold Charolais cross steers to 346c/kg, reaching a top of $1,232 to average $1,024.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 278c/kg, reaching a top of $996 to average $794.

Lynne Denton, Lorne Downs, Augathella sold Crossbred steers to 344c/kg, reaching a top of $1,243 to average $1,048.

Fennell Pastoral, Lambina Station, Marla sold Charolais steers to 340c/kg, reaching a top of $1,304 to average $1,016.

Rayner Family Trust, Longreach sold Angus cross steers to 312c/kg, reaching a top of $1,885 to average $1,518.

WG Proud & DS Brumpton, Scattering Plains, Roma sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $1,025 to average $1,007.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 292c/kg and averaged 245c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 322c/kg and averaged 269c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 294c/kg, averaging 253c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 324c/kg, averaging 235c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 308c/kg, averaging 269c/kg.

CE & AM Sylvester, Injune sold Angus heifers to 324c/kg, reaching a top of $1,207 to average $1,115.

Freeman Pastoral Company, Meeleebee Downs, Wallumbilla sold Santa Gertrudis cross heifers to 322c/kg, reaching a top of $798 to average $670.

DE & JM Robson, Mount View, Morven sold Angus cross heifers to 292c/kg, reaching a top of $855 to average $812.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 210c/kg and averaged 182c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 250c/kg, averaging 203c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 265c/kg, averaging 239c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 260c/kg, averaging 251c/kg.

Athelstane Pastoral Co, Athelstane Station, Winton sold Charbray cross cows to 265c/kg, reaching a top of $1,540 to average $1,387.

R & J Underwood, Pine Hills, Wallumbilla sold Droughtmaster cows to 260c/kg, reaching a top of $1,872 to average $1,706.

Graeme Waldron, Stormhill, Longreach sold Charolais cross cows to 259c/kg, reaching a top of $1,626 to average $1,312.
